Late night Cereal

Yeah, there are times when i just don't sleep. It's like....fall asleep for an hour or two, wake up, try not to be awakr, give in to Cheerio's, sports highlights and blogging. I mean....It's 3AM and fugging 14 degrees or some shit outside.

They say today is supposed to get up near 50, that sounds more like it for winter in Carolina. I have also avowed to get me a new bicycle. I will let you now what I get but I spose it's high time I start biking it most places. I mean....I do live inside the city limits...eerrrr.....town line of a place with 3,500 people, give or take

If you ever looked at a biker and thought why, well this just might answer that. If it still doesn't then I doubt there is much left I can do to help you understand. Some folks just don't get two wheels, and well, I dont get folks who dont get it so that makes us even.

If you don't get it and are reading my blog then maybe you get dogs, guns, and women, or appreciate them, hell....even I don't get women, part of the mystery I spose. And by the way, if'n you ever run cross someone who doesn't get dogs, you know those weird folks who don't like dogs? Run the hell the other way, I never trust a person who doesn't like a dog. Times in life we come to a crossroads and being a business owner has allowed for much re-evaluation of what is important in life therefor some things gotta go, like the FaceBook friend cutting as of recent. Times in life a man has to re-time and re-tune and sacrifice short term gains for long term runs. I will prolly regret this sale but it is for the highest good of all concerned.

More 'Buza!!

Ok, I admit something got me on a Hayabusa kick lately, maybe its the temptation of the possibility of putting a "Busa poweplant in the Bandit this winter. I am not sure.

Finally we found some "Busa purity on ScrewTube. No flash no ass just plain moto talk. Let the wheels do the talking friends. Anyone can sit and look cool, or can they cause if you sittin you aint ridin. Am I really this much of an ass, yeah maybe, or maybe it's just easy to call out the daily roll call from behind the screen scene.

OK....the point I am tryin to make is this quick little clip right here shows how ya ride a motorcycle. You cant ride this way with a bagger. And all y'all old guys who claim these "crotch rockets" to be too dangerous....Check your facts, anything lighter, faster and and more nimble is bound to be safer, least thats what the insurance companies believe. Fewer fatal single vehicle wrecks on sport bikes. Period!

Imma go listen to Birds of Maya now....they are my new fave band. Maybe I will blog on them soon.

No, I did not choose the title but I did embed it here on my lil blog so maybe, just maybe my cager audience who lives through my two and 4 heel moto and sk8 adventures might just start to see it. Maybe just one lil glimpse into the life.

This past year nearly to the day I recently dubbed year of the funeral. I haven't seen this many folks check out in 12 months since the great heroin bottom of 2001. That was one hell of a painful year. But I will say one thing, seeing folks die from so called "natural causes" seems a whole lot more senseless to me than anything you may witness here. I don't know who was first quoted as saying so but it was something about "I do not want to live my life only to arrive safely at death" Sadly I have seen a lot of that this year. One death was a fellow rider, friend and business man who went headlong into a guardrail rounding an outside curve that he apparently misjudged and needless to say front wheel and shoulder gravel was a deadly combo. But hey!!! You can die having pushed the edge a lil too far or you can go quiet and safe like somewhere in an Omaha nursing home.

God Bless my fallen family.

You may not get it but this is what I just absolutely love about riding. No....not crashing, the fact that you are always so damn close to becoming something other than complete.

This video shows the good the bad and the fugly. Some idiots here but also some real talented riders (like the clip at a minute40)you don't get better by playing it safe and you don't stand on the podium without lettin' it all hang out now and again.

Motorcycle Girl!!

OK, so last night may have been a lil heavy for y'all but all I am saying is if you want the government out of your life than find a true Constitutional Lincoln Republican and get out and vote for the dude, if for no reason other than to see your vote really doesnt mean a damn thing. Social fixits are just gonna fuck it up more. It is all too cumbersome. Damn I could keep going on here for pages and pages but I will stop now.

Remember the woman on the Ducati?? Now here is one fine lil lady on a Moto Guzzi! Honestly I never been a huge fan of the Guzzi beyond appearance, matter of fact I never even ridden one around the block, though I did sit on a couple at the Cycle Expo last year. The Guzzi is like a BMW, there is a certain segment of the moto-population that loves these things, while a guy like me as you know enjoys the simple things, the throwbacks and the true vintage, Guzzi never did much to really light me on fire. They look cool but to my knowledge they are a bitch on maintenance and parts tend to be a bit Euro-import pricey, these the reasons again why I sold the Duc.

Regardless, the woman in this video is riding one and that is props enough, not to mention the shot of the gun strapped in her belt. My source tells me this video was shot on 16mil hand crank and it shows. I always thought becoming a photographer and videographer would be fun and interesting but alas there is only so much one can pursue in this life.

So its late, I am tired, the scarlet and grey game is tomorrow yet I still have to go in and get my crew rollin' first thing in the AM. Regardless I have committed to do at least 2 posts a week.

As one who is absolutely enthralled with the sport or "lifestyle" if you will of motorcycles. One of the most common questions I hear from cagers or non-motorcyclists is...."Those things seem so dangerous" or another good one is from the balding overweight middle age dude who wants to tell me about the year or two he owned a Kawasaki 500 or maybe some fuckin dirtbike his cousins nephews sisters kid had at the family reunion and he accidentally wheelied. Usually a guy such as this will tell me such a thing to try and "qualify" in my eyes or my nearby biker buddies. As if the fact that now he has a mortgage, kids and a mini-van made it a good idea to sell the bike. Fuck no dude....it was a bad idea!!! If I were to get married it sure wouldn't be to some woman who says "Sell the bikes or the weddings off!" And if she did I would know then and there that a woman who wants me to sacrifice my own personal joys for the privilege of marrying her is no woman I need to marry at all.

So this was supposed to be a rant about above dude and how I don't know how the hell he got like that but he did and I bet he just loved seeing that shot but somehow it turned into my rant about "responsible" people. Where does it say that as we age we should stop having fun?? Truth be known the more I age the more god-damned fun I have.

Bandit Trumps ST2

Likely i have just violated some copyright laws but that's OK. Here below is a fine illustration of what I consider to be the best all around street bike your hard earned money can buy. A 1999 Suzuki Bandit 1200S. Sure I could have put up a pic of my own Bandit but this is just one damn fine drawing.

Were talking torque here people....lots of it, high red line but will buck right into about 3500 rpm at a normal cruising speed. I knew I wanted this bike for many months and even rode the 600cc variety however realized that only a 1200 would really satisfy my thirst, and speaking of thirst, if I did have to pic one downfall of this machine it would be small gas tank coupled with low gas mileage. Maybe we cant have it all but the Bandit comes damn close to giving it. Suzuki has done little to toil with this product however the newer models are now fuel injected and are actually about 1247cc in comparison to the 1149 you see here and the seat has been moved around a little but other than that the same trusty steed now going on 17 years I believe. Bandits would likely be a cult bike if they had only been imported for say 2 or 3 years and I find it surprising not to see more of them on the roads but perhaps that is one more thing to like. When you ride, say a Ninja 500, or a CB something or other, they are all over the damn place. But a Bandit.....now that's like seeing a real Trans Am. Sure they are out there but it ain't your ma's Taurus that's fer sure. So what you might ask did I you beloved author sacrifice for my Bandit. The answer is the red beauty you see above. Other than aforementioned gas mileage I feel the Bandit is more comfy, better control layout with a more user friendly approach, I feel much more confident in the lean and I can swap the battery in all of 5minutes compared to the 20-30 it took on the Duc just to get to the damn thing. And while yes the ST2 did and still does have its own fine qualities not the least of which is "heh....its a Ducati!" Which garnered plenty of double takes and low under the tongue whistles from many an enthusiast, my smart money sez Bandit.
